Steve McCracken

Inspired by everyday life, human encounter and romanticism
Currently living and working in London, Steve graduated Bath Spa University with a BA Hons in Fine Art in 2009. Since graduating he has been building up a large portfolio of work exploring everyday life and the moments that make up our days. Influenced hugely by Jean-Michel Basquiat and the whole New York 80's movement Steve uses vibrant colours, mixed with thoughtful yet immediate text, scratchy drawings and a bold use of black and white paint bringing his angst ideas together creating painted collages of mixed mediums and mixed emotions.
Steve's use of colour and movement is what makes him stand out as an artist and it is what his viewers find themselves connecting too. His vibrant use of colour brings his work to life and mixed with his loose yet controlled style of painting he creates characters with individual personalities that his audience can relate too.
Bath Spa Fine Art Graduate and London based Artist Steve McCracken grew up in the outdoors fishing and surfing and it is easy to see how his path has lead him to create his series of "birds".
In this work Steve's connection with nature allows himself to express himself artistically through the freest was possible.
His birds bring a sense of realness and reality to life and remind the viewer that everyone is free.
